The Hedgehog King Ch. 1

Chapter 1: Future King

    The peaceful kingdom of Mobodoom woke up with a shining sun, and a warm feeling of joy. All around the kingdom, all the citizens were allowed to come into the castle, and see the newborn son of King Jules and Queen Aleena, their future king.

    King Jules was a blue hedgehog with brown eyes and a tuff of brown fur on his forehead. He actually wasn’t born in the royal blood line, but he proved himself worthy when he rescued the queen from invaders. Jules was allowed to marry Aleena, who was not just his childhood friend, but also his long time love, after he was deemed as a worthy man to be Aleena’s husband and the King of Mobodoom.

    Queen Aleena was a purple hedgehog with emerald eyes and long, dark purple hair. Unlike her husband, she was born in the royal blood line, as a princess. Aleena took her job as queen seriously, and was a strong individual who wouldn’t back down when her people needed her.

    And now, after being married for five years, Jules and Aleena were blessed with a child. A son was born. He looked almost like Jules, except he didn’t have a tuff of brown fur, and he had his mother’s emerald eyes.

    His name: Sonic the Hedgehog.

    The day of the celebration was held in the great hall of the castle. Anyone, regardless of their status or wealth, was allowed to see the King and Queen and get a glimpse of the baby prince. Sometime in the future, Prince Sonic will become King Sonic, as he is next in line for the throne.

    “We’ve done good Aleena,” Jules whispered to his wife.

    Aleena smiled. Sonic was asleep in her arms as her friend, Vanilla, got to see the sleeping hedgehog.

    “We have Jules. Sonic will become a great king when he’s old enough,” Aleena whispered to him with a smile.

    Jules smiled and gave his wife a kiss. Then, he gave his sleeping son a quick kiss on the baby’s tiny forehead. Sonic smiled in his sleep.

    “King Jules,” said a voice.

    Jules turned around to see his friend, and captain of the guards, Vector the Crocodile.

    “I’m sorry to inform you, but Ivo hasn’t arrived. I have a feeling that he won’t come…” said the croc.

    Jules let out a disappointed sigh. Vector was talking about Eggman, Jules’s half-brother. Eggman, or as his real name was Ivo, was adopted by Jules’s family when they were kids. At first, the two got along well, but their bond went down the drain as they grew up. Eggman always talked about becoming king someday, after he and Jules started working for the royal family. Aleena’s father approved Jules, and after Jules got married to Aleena, Eggman had been giving him the cold shoulder. They hadn’t spoken for years, despite how Jules was trying to open back up to his half-brother.

    “Well, if he wants to continue leaving me and everyone who worries about him out of his life, it’s his loss,” Jules told Vector with a sigh. “But, maybe he’ll warm up to Sonic. He’s technically an uncle now.”

    Somewhere in Mobodoom, Eggman was actually watching the party with some monitors he secretly set up in the castle.

    “Hmph! Like I’ll warm up to that little brat that’s my nephew! Jules doesn’t deserve to be king! I do, and if only that little tiny pin cousin didn’t come around,” Eggman angrily whispered.

    He glared into the monitor and eyed the royal family.

    “But mark my words, I will become king…” he whispered.

    Back in the castle, the party was over, everyone went back to their houses and went to bed. King Jules and Queen Aleena took their son to his room and put him in his bed. The King and Queen smiled as they looked at their sleeping son.

    “He’s so cute when he’s sleeping,” Aleena whispered to her husband.

    “He sure is. He’ll be a great king when he’s old enough,” Jules whispered back.

    The royal couple continued to look at their son. They smiled again as they saw Sonic smile in his sleep.
