"The Adventures of the Three Heroes" presents...

“Hiding” pt. 2  (Volume 7, Story 17)

It had been a week since Kate asked the new order if she could hide in Beacontown for a bit. With the monster hunters looking for her back in the Dream Universe, it seemed safer for everyone to hide in another universe. And only Hadrian and Mevia, who were back at the Dream Universe, knew which universe she hid at. And they still didn’t know where in the Minecraft Universe she was hiding at.

It was better for everyone back home to not know where she was. It was safer. The group of Mobians who called themselves the “Monster Hunters” were after Kate, because they were falsely told by Sally, one of Kate’s rivals, that she was a Nightmare. The hitmen weren’t going to stop looking for Kate, so until the others back home could get things sorted out, Kate to hide.

Right now, Kate was hiding at the temple. It felt uneasy to go out to Beacontown, even if the hitmen weren’t here in the Minecraft Universe. She was in the treasure room, looking out the window to see the forest outside of Beacontown. She showed no emotion in her face as she gazed outside.

She wasn’t alone in the treasure room. Petra was there to, and she was staring at Kate. Concerned for her friend, she walked over to check on her.

“Hey, you okay?” Petra asked her.

Kate didn’t turn to face her, but she still answered Petra.

“It’s been a week. I miss my friends, and I hope they’re okay. I can’t contact them, so I don’t know if they’re okay, or if those people hurt them to try to get information on where I am…” she said.

Petra gave her a sad look.

“I know you’re worried,” she said.

Kate sighed and turned around. She started to head out of the treasure room.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t be worrying. It’s not going to get me anywhere,” said Kate.

“But you do deserve to feel worried. I mean, we all get worried about our friends, right?” said Petra.

Kate nodded her heard, but she formed a stunned look.

“We all get worried? What do you mean?” she asked.

    “Uh…” said Petra nervously.

“Petra, are you okay? Something on your mind bothering you?” asked Kate.

Before Petra could answer, the door to the treasure room opened. The other members of the new order, along with Ivor and Harper, came in.

    “Hi guys,” said Reuben.

“Oh. Hi,” said Petra. “Any of you coming with me to the mines? I could use some more lapis so I can make some great enchantments. I wanna make sure Ms. Butter is the best golden sword in the world.”

“Sorry Petra, but we’re all kinda busy. My sister and I are going to do some interviews for people who applied to be our intern,” said M. Jesse.

“I’ve gotta go practice music with Benedict. Ivor and Harper are taking me there because they wanted to visit Aiden,” said Reuben.

“I’ve gotta help some people in town with a build,” said Lukas.

“I gotta head to Boomtown and see what Magnus needs,” said Axel.

“And I’ve got to watch over Redstonia for Ellegaard for a bit,” said Olivia.

    Petra sighed sadly.

“I can go with you, Petra,” said Kate.

“Company would be nice,” said Petra.

A short while later, Petra and Kate arrived at the mines. They walked past the miners and entered a quiet, dimly lit area of the mines. There weren’t that many monsters, surprisingly, but the girls still had their weapons with them just in case.

“So, what kind of enchantments are you going for, Petra?” asked Kate.

“At least unbreaking, so the sword will last a long time. But I also want to go for some enchantments to make it kill monsters quickly,” said Petra.

“Seems like a good combination. And I find it neat that you want to do the enchantments yourself. I could’ve easily turned your thought into a reality, but I like how you want to do it the regular way, Petra. It involves going to adventure in these mines,” said Kate.

She spotted some lapis ore and mined it. But as she did, Petra sighed sadly.

    “Yeah… adventure…” said Petra.

Kate stopped mining and looked up at Petra.

“Petra, are you okay?” she asked her.

    Petra only shrugged her shoulders.

“Whatever it is, you can tell me. I won’t judge you,” said Kate.

Petra was quiet, but she smiled sadly at Kate. The smile quickly faded though.

“I’m worried about my friends. I feel that… they’re all drifting away from me…” said Petra.

“Huh? What do you mean?” asked Kate.

“Olivia might become the leader of Redstonia, the Jesse twins run Beacontown now and are even getting an intern, Reuben has found his place with music, Lukas is considering becoming a writer, and Axel, my boyfriend, is becoming the leader of Boomtown,” said Petra.

Kate was quiet, listening to Petra.

“Everyone’s lost their love for adventure, and they’re all choosing to settle down with their lives. Me? I still love adventure. And because I’m the only one, I feel that my friends are drifting away from me…” said Petra.

She sighed and said, “It’s a lot of big changes, and I don’t like it…”

“Petra, I know the feeling. I’m an Aspie. I get anxious when things change quickly, and at the last minute as well. I know it’s overwhelming, but Petra… the others are still your friends. I’m still your friend. And no matter what changes between anyone, we’ll always love you. We’re still friends, and we’re still family,” said Kate.

Petra looked down. She remained quiet, taking in Kate’s words.

“I would ask you to promise me that you’ll never change, but I know you will. You’re going to become a writer, and I can’t stop you from doing that,” said Petra.

“Well, I can’t promise that I won’t change, but not because of the writing thing…” said Kate.

“Then what is it?” said Petra.

Kate was quiet. She knew what secret she would have to share in order to answer Petra’s question.

She couldn’t bring up the right words to tell Petra. Instead, she walked closer to her friend and stood in front of Petra. Petra looked at Kate with confusion. Kate took her glove off of her left hand and lifted up her hand, making sure Petra got a good look at her engagement ring.

    “Kate… is that…” said Petra.

“Yes… Knuckles proposed to me…” she said. “That’s the change I was talking about…”

Petra sighed sadly. “Even friends in other universes are going through changes…” she said. “It seems that I’m the only one who won’t change…”

“Petra, please don’t think that. I know that change is overwhelming, but you can’t forget that we all still love you. We’re still friends, family. And no matter the distance between us in person, our hearts are still connected. Will you remember everything I just told you?” said Kate.

Petra was quiet for a minute. She let the words sink in. instead of giving Kate a response, she nodded her head.

“Thanks Petra. And no matter what, we still love you,” Kate said, giving her friend a sad smile.

Petra smiled sadly. “Thanks Kate. I promise… I’ll remember,” she said, almost quietly.

Back in Beacontown, the others were preparing to head out. Reuben, Ivor, and Harper already left for Ground City. The Jesse twins were doing the interviews at the moment. That left Lukas getting ready to help with his build and Axel and Olivia preparing to move out.

“We best to head out,” Axel told Olivia.

“Yeah. I need to get to Redstonia since Ellegaard’s not looking over it right now,” said Olivia.

Lukas was putting some stuff away in his inventory, but after he finished, he noticed that there were some Mobians coming to them.

“Hey guys, are there… Mobians here?” he said.

    Axel and Olivia turned around.

“Yeah. They’re not wearing those enchanted amulets that Kate has for the group to hide their identity when they come here!” said Olivia.

“They might not be a part of the group then, but why are there here?” said Axel.

Some people of Beacontown were staring at the Mobians, but the five approached Axel, Olivia, and Lukas.

“We’re hunting for this human. She’s a Nightmare in disguise. We can’t find her anywhere in our universe, so we figured she’d come here to hide,” said the leader.

He pulled out a poster with Kate’s face on it. Lukas, Axel, and Olivia formed shocked looks on their faces.

“You know where she is… your expressions tell me so…” said the leader.

Lukas, Axel, and Olivia remained quiet.

Over at the mines, Petra and Kate were heading out.

“Hey Kate, thanks for the talk. I needed it,” said Petra.

Kate smiled and said, “Anything to help a friend.”

    Petra smiled back.

The two girls left the mines and walked through the streets of Beacontown. However, when they arrived, they could hear some commotion going on.

“Huh? What’s going on?” said Petra.

They rushed over, and to their shock, they could see Lukas, Axel, and Olivia shouting at the five Mobians who were hunting down Kate.

“How did they find me?!” said Kate.

“We’re not telling you anything!” Axel shouted at the Mobians angrily.

“Look, we are running out of patience. We were told by a client that the human we’re looking for is a monster in disguise. For your own safety, we are trying to track down this human and eliminate them,” said the leader.

“Kate is our friend! She is not a monster! Now leave our town right now!” Lukas shouted.

“Don’t make us do things the hard way…” said the leader.

He pulled out a taser gun and pointed it at Lukas. Lukas took a few steps back, and even put his hands up to show that he didn’t want any trouble.

“Petra, get the book on my universe! We have to send them back!” said Kate. “I’ll distract them so they don’t hurt our friends!”

“Just… be careful Kate!” said Petra.

Petra ran back to the temple to go grab the book, while Kate did a spin dash. She charged forward and knocked the leader away from Lukas.

    “Gah!” cried the leader.

“Hey idiots! You looking for me! Then catch me if you can!” said Kate.

“Kate no! Run away!” said Olivia.

One of the Mobians, the other wolf, tried to tase Kate with their taser gun, but Kate doged the attack. The leader stood up and grabbed his taser gun. But as he aimed it at Kate, an arrow was fired, knocking it out of his hand.

“Stay away from her!” Lukas shouted angrily. He pointed his bow, loaded with another arrow, at them.

“Grrr! Catch that Nightmare!” the leader ordered his team.

“She’s not a Nightmare, you idiot!” Axel shouted.

He punched the Mobian in the face. The two started to get into a fist fight.

Kate ran through the streets of Beacontown at the other four Mobians tried to chase her. She did her best to go through an alleyway to lose them, but reached a dead end.

“Hands up, Nightmare!” said the cat Mobian.

Kate slowly put her hands up, but she noticed one of the shops right next to her. She could see that someone people were inside, and an idea came to her mind.

“Zombie attack! Zombies swarming the ally!” she shouted.

The Mobians eyed her with confusion. The person in the store came out. He had a diamond sword out.

    “Where?!” he shouted.

“Sir, get out of the w-”

Before the fox could continue, Kate did a spin dash on him, knocking him back and into his team mates. The chameleon tried to hit Kate with his taser gun, but Kate kicked him in the face.

“I am not a freaking Nightmare! Stay the hell away from me!” she snapped at him.

The chameleon grabbed her by the arm and tossed her into the shop where the man just came out of. Kate hit some of the shelves with a thud. A villager heard the commotion and came rushing over.

The chameleon approached Kate, taser gun ready.

“Time to take you back to the client…” he said.

Before he could tase Kate, the villager suddenly hit him with a shovel. Kate took the chance to kick the chameleon again.

“Thanks sir!” she thanked the villager.

She pushed the chameleon out of the shop. The fox grabbed her arm.

“Enough! Stop being a big problem for us!” the fox snapped at her.

Suddenly, he shouted in pain. The man who ran out of the store punched the Mobian in the back of the head. Kate took the chance to shove him away. She ran out of the alleyway as her pursuers chased after her.

“Sorry about your shop, but thanks for the backup!” she called out to her two unexpected helpers.

The man and the villager just watched her leave with confused looks.

Back in the streets of Beacontown, she continued to run away as the four Mobians chased her. The leader and Axel were still in their fist fight, but Petra suddenly came out and knocked the wolf away from Axel.

“Stop punching my boyfriend, you jerk!” she shouted at him.

Kate shouted as another one of the Mobians grabbed her. This time, two of them, the chameleon and the fox, grabbed both of her arms, to make sure she couldn’t punch them. They pulled her arms apart so that she couldn’t try to kick them either.

“Enough of this! We’re taking you to the client now!” said the leader.

    “Hey!” an angry voice shouted.

Everyone turned around to see that the Jesse twins arrived. They had the book with them, because Petra warned them about the commotion when she went back for the book.

“This is our town, and you’re not welcome here!” M. Jesse shouted angrily.

“Get out of here!” F. Jesse said.

She opened the book, and the portal began to form.

Kate did another spin dash, making sure that the two Mobians who grabbed her let go of her. They lost their grip on her, and she quickly jumped back from the group.

“No! Get back here! We’re not done with you yet!” said the leader.

Kate ran back, while the others ran forward.

Axel got back into his fist fight with the leader, and to make sure he didn’t lose this round, he even picked the leader.

“Put me down!” the leader shouted.

“Time to take out the trash!” said Axel.

He tossed the leader into the portal.

Petra slashed her sword and attacked the fox Mobian. The fox pulled out a weapon, and the two began to duel. But Petra was too quick on her feet for the Mobian to handle. She knocked the fox’s weapon out of his hands and kicked him back.

“Get in there already!” she shouted.

She picked him back and into the portal.

Lukas had his bow ready and with perfect aim and timing, he fired an arrow at the cat Mobian. The arrow hit her in the shoulder, causing the cat to shout out in pain. Olivia too the chance to charge with her sword. She slashed the cat, knocking her into the portal.

“That’s what you get!” she shouted.

Now it was just the chameleon and the other wolf Mobian. The group had their weapons out, ready to strike. The two Mobians backed up towards the portal. The two eyed the group angrily. Most of their team got sent back to the Dream Universe, but they weren’t giving up yet.

“Fine then! You win! We’ll leave, but not without the package!” said the chameleon.

He pulled out a taser gun and tried to hit Kate, but she deflected it with her sword. But as she did, the other Mobian pulled out their taser gun. They charged at Kate, and pulled the trigger. Kate shrieked in pain as she got hit.

    “Kate!” cried Petra.

The two Mobians grabbed her and ran for the portal.

    “No! Stop!” cried M. Jesse.

Too late. They jumped into the portal. The group jumped through to go after them.

But to their shock, once all the light was gone, they found themselves outside the treehouse, and Kate and her kidnappers weren’t in sight.

    “No! NO!” cried F. Jesse.

    “Guys?!” said a voice.

Mario and Sonic came running out of the treehouse.

“What are you guys doing here?” said Sonic.

“They got her! Those Mobians! They got Kate!” said Lukas.
