Chapter 1: Goodbye to My Old Life
It all began on the day I last saw anyone in my old life. What happened on this particular day was a bad event, although, it was just another boring day at school when this day began. If school wasn’t bad enough for me, then the strange turn of events that happened certainly was a turn for worse that day.
The day looked as if it would be ordinary. I went to my first two classes, and snack started to take place. I’m the lonely type at school, who found it hard to trust anyone at my school and difficult to find friends at school. All my friends who I’m actually close to (well, before I met Mario, Sonic, and all the others) were from outside my school.
So there I was, sitting by myself, waiting to go to my next class. A few boys who’s’ names I do not know at all, they were all trying to get my attention. They kept calling out my name, but I had no clue who they were. I only sat there waiting for the bell, and that’s when the alarm went off.
The fire alarm went off, and people began running in panic. Even the teachers were ignoring the whole, remain calm and head to the baseball field in a line with your class idea. Everyone was running away from the school and heading to the city park that was across the street.
I started to run along with them to, but someone knocked me over while they ran off. When I hit the ground, I had a strange vision of some sort. I don’t know what it was, but I saw a friend of mine in distress.
My friend Tessa, who I’ve known since second grade, was trapped in the gymnasium by herself. The fire, a strange black flame of some sort, was preventing her from escaping. She was trapped under a desk, or some equipment, and no one was coming to save her. She was coughing hard and looked like she was about to die.
I didn’t know what made me do it, but I ran towards the gym once I got back on my feet. It didn’t matter if it was an allusion. I had to save my friend!
As I made it inside the burning building, the air was thick with smoke. I coughed hard, but lucky for me, I have no asthma, so I could keep going without worrying that a lack of air could kill me as I rescued my friend. I found Tessa, and I started to help her up.
“Tessa!” I cried.
“No Katelyn! You need to get out of here!” she whispered.
When she told me those words, I thought it was that usual scenario where the person in distress refuses for help to let the person who came for them to escape while they can.
“I’m not leaving you!” I told her.
What I didn’t know, was that it was all a trap. As I tried to get Tessa out of there, I heard someone coming. When I looked up, it was him.
Andy Vixion, although, he looked almost nothing like himself.
He looked like himself, well, except the features that indicated that he was now the Dark King. Those features included the skull necklace, the black hood, the whip and sword as his weapons, and the vial with the odd, black liquid inside that he had with him. He gave me a dark, evil smile, which showed how his teeth were now green fangs. The worst part was his eyes, which were not human eyes, and looked like snake eyes in the color of red.
He pointed his sword at me, and although I couldn’t hear exactly what he said, he said some sort of spell. I figured that it was a spell, because after he finished, a blast of red light hit me smack in the middle of the chest.
I couldn’t understand what happened to me. I could feel a small puddle of some sticky stuff on the floor, which I guessed was my own blood, because I began to lose consciousness. I couldn’t move, but strangely, I wasn’t in any pain. The world began to black out for me, no matter how hard I struggled to keep my eyes open.
“Katelyn!” I heard Tessa shout.
That was the last word I heard from anyone I knew, because after that I passed out. When I would finally wake up, I wouldn’t be with someone I knew or loved. I would be stuck with Andy Vixion.
