Chapter 22: A Battle Between Two Princesses

Charmy’s POV

I was shocked to hear from Marine that’s she’s the missing princess to Floramora, but I was horrified after what happened to Saffron when that ball of light came to her. After she turned into a dragon, she flew out of Floramora and to the woods outside. I soon recognized the area as the location by where Marine and I first met. I had a feeling that this place would be the last thing I would see, because as Saffron held onto me, I could feel the life leaving me.

It wasn’t because she was gripping me too hard for me to breathe. What it must have been was that strange light that turned her into a dragon. Whatever it was, it was starting to affect me to. I could feel everything starting to blur away.

But if it weren’t for a familiar voice I know, then the energy that Saffron absorbed would have killed me.

No One’s POV

Marine: Saffron! Put him down! If you want him that bad, then we must fight for him!

Saffron the dragon growled at Marine, who was standing on the ground holding the sword in her hands. However, she let her grip in Charmy go and put him down on a tree branch that was steady enough to hold him. After she put him down, Charmy could feel the life returning to him.

What he saw was a horror to be reckoned with: Marine was fighting Saffron the dragon with only a sword!

Saffron snapped her fangs at Marine, but the young raccoon only swung her sword around to counter act that. The mighty dragon let out a roar and tried to smash one of her large hands on Marine, but Marine was faster. She pointed the sword up to poke Saffron’s hand when the dragon attempted to smash her.

That must have ticked off Saffron even more, because using her other hand, the dragon hit Marine from the side. Marine was thrown aside and hit a tree. Her sword slid across the dirt.

The dragon saw her chance to attack and attempted to use her fangs to grab Marine. Marine got up and grabbed her sword in time, and she slashed it hard across Saffron’s snout and this time, a large cut was shown. Saffron didn’t pull back this time, because despite the cut, she bit Marine hard on her left arm.

Marine let out a cry of pain, but she didn’t give up. Quickly, she dove for cover and pulled out her dagger. Remembering what she saw in her flashback, she pressed the blade on her arm, which healed her instead of made her wound worse.

Now healed, Marine got out of her hiding spot and pointed the sword at the dragon again.

Saffron must have been getting desperate, because she made another mighty dive towards Marine. Marine took the sword and made a risky move: she moved her arm into Saffron’s mouth and stabbed the roof of the dragons’ mouth. The blade cut right through the roof of the dragons’ mouth.

Saffron let out another painful cry, and Marine pulled her arm out. It was even worse than the other time she got bitten by the dragon. Saffron the dragon let out a loud roar again, but Marine had to make sure the job was done right. Using the rest of her strength, she used a trick she learned while a pirate: she perfectly threw the sword, blade pointing, at the dragon’s chest. It hit Saffron in the chest where her heart was supposed to be.

Saffron let out another roar, but this time, instead of fighting back, the dragon fell to the ground. Within seconds after hitting the ground, it turned to dust, and a red ball of light was in its place. The red light flew off back to Floramora’s castle, going back to the Master Emerald.

Charmy got down from his tree and ran to Marine. He ran to his injured friend and held her close to him.

Charmy: Marine! Please don’t leave me… *he started to cry*

??? (in a sarcastic tone) : Oh, what a tragedy, your true love is about to die.

Charmy turned around, with tears in his eyes to be facing Robotnik, who was holding the last Sunlilac (in a pot) in his hands.
