The Knight of Flames Ch. 3

Chapter 3: Encounter

    Outside of the cold kingdom of Soleanna, a young Mobian was walking in the snowy forest. She was purple cat, and as she walked through the forest, she listened carefully for her surroundings. She came out here often, for she knew how to hunt for food and knew what plants were useful for food or medical uses.

    Her name was Blaze the Cat.

    Blaze lived with the kingdom’s apothecary, Vanilla the Rabbit, and her daughter Cream. She had no family of her own and often acted like a big sister towards Cream, just like her best friend Amy. Vanilla and Cream were poor, but they kindly let Blaze become a part of their family. Blaze cared for them, so she’d hunt like this to catch some food, or gather edible or medical plants. All of these things she’d sell to the villagers, so that she could make some money to help support Vanilla and Cream.

    Her few friends knew this, but Blaze was gifted with pryrokenisis. It was the power of her to control and create flames at will, which was what she did for self-defense. Blaze was a fighter and had experience, but even so, she would never be allowed to join as a knight. She wanted to apply to be a knight so that she could earn more money for Vanilla and Cream, but she wouldn’t get the job because she was a girl, and girls were not permitted to fight.

    Blaze could hear the sounds of footsteps coming from ahead of her. It could have been one of the Ice Witch’s snow monsters. She not only created the winter outside Soleanna, but also some minions of hers to go around through the forest and attack anyone out there. They were not match for Blaze because of her pryokenisis, but she still wanted to take caution.

    To her surprise, it wasn’t one of the Ice Witch’s minions. A grey hedgehog was walking over to where she was. She noticed that he wasn’t dressed in a thick winter coat, and he looked cold.

    “Should’ve taken a coat when I had this idea…” he muttered to himself.

    Blaze watched him leave, but she started to follow him.

    ‘He’s so naïve, walking out here like this unprepared. It’s as if he’s never stepped outside his own house…’ she thought.

    That’s when one of the Ice Witch’s snow minions came out of nowhere. It roared at the hedgehog, who jumped back in panic. Blaze was about to go and help him out, but to her surprise, he fought back. He got back on his feet, lifted an arm out, and she watched him lift the snow minion in air!

    He was gifted with psyhokenisis!

    ‘He… he’s got a unique gift like me?!’ Blaze thought.

    She watched as the hedgehog threw the snow minion hard in the air. The snow minion went flying off and disappeared from sight.

    Blaze spotted another snow minion coming, but the hedgehog didn’t see it. This time, she came in to help him out. She dashed out and tossed a big fireball at the snow minion. The fireball smacked onto the snow minions face and it melted within seconds.

    The hedgehog heard the snow minion howl in pain when it melted, which made him turn around and see Blaze.

    “Oh… hello…” the hedgehog said nervously.

    “Hi…” Blaze said nervously.

    “I was just out on a walk… when he came out and attacked me…” said Silver.

    “Yeah, the Ice Witch sends out her snow minions to terrorize those out here, but they aren’t scared of me because I can destroy them. I’m Blaze by the way,” said Blaze.

    “Uh… Silver…” Silver said.

    ‘No way! He’s the prince of Soleanna?!’ thought Blaze.

    “Yeah… I’m the prince of Soleanna… I snuck out to clear my head because I’ve got a lot going through my life…” Silver said sadly.

    “You can’t just walk away from the kingdom. You’re people need you, and besides, there’s a solution to every problem. Do you… want me to walk you back to the castle?” asked Blaze.

    Silver managed to make a small smile and said, “I’d like that.”

    As the two turned around to head back to Soleanna, they had no clue that another snow minion was watching them leave. However, instead of attacking them, this one followed them, and it’s eyes began to glow red as it activated a special ability it had…
