The Hedgehog King Ch. 7

Chapter 7: Reunion

    One minute, Tails and Knuckles were walking back home, minding their own business and going to their house to make Sonic’s birthday chili dog.

    The next minute, they saw a swarm of robots outside their house! Tails and Knuckles managed to get them away from the house before they could start tearing the place apart, but the robots outnumbered them, and they were surrounded.

    Tails and Knuckles did their best to fight back, but they were quickly beaten by their enemies.

    “HELP! US!” they shouted, hoping that Sonic would come.

    Sure enough, Sonic came in. He spin dashed towards the robots and broke lots of them. But more were coming in to attack him, so he launched homing attacks on them.

    It seemed that no matter how many Team Sonic destroyed, more robots would just come up. But the team didn’t give up. They continued to fight together with their powers as well as their teamwork.

    In a few minutes, all the robots were destroyed and reduced to pieces.

    Well, all except for one. One robot started to aim for Sonic, pointing it’s gun at him as he attacked one that tried to hurt Tails and Knuckles. Sonic saw the robot, but he saw it ready to fire.

    However, before it could even fire, something came up from behind it and crushed it. A red hammer had appeared from nowhere and smashed the robot to bits.

    No wait. Someone controlled that hammer. A pink hedgehog in a faded red dress with torn red boots had appeared. For a moment, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles stared at her. She was a stranger to them, for they never saw her before.

    However, as she stopped to catch her breath, Sonic noticed her eyes. They were green, and after gazing in her eyes, Sonic realized that this hedgehog was awfully familiar…

    He approached her slowly, as if he didn’t want to startle her.

    “Amy…” he whispered.

    The pink hedgehog gasped and looked at him. She looked startled, but she didn’t raise her hammer and aim it at Sonic.

    “Is it really you?” Sonic asked out loud.

    “W-who are you?” the pink hedgehog asked.

    “Amy it’s me… Sonic…” said Sonic.

    For a minute, the pink hedgehog stared at him. He did look exactly like Sonic, and after gazing into his emerald eyes, she knew it. It was him.

    “Sonic!” she cried happily.

    Amy ran over to him and gave him a tight hug. Sonic hugged her in return. Both of them were crying, but smiling.

    “Uh… what’s going on here?” asked Knuckles.

    Sonic and Amy broke their hug and turned to Knuckles and Tails.

    “Knuckles, Tails, this is Amy! She’s my best friend!” Sonic said happily.

    “We thought we were your best friends. Did you meet her before you met us?” asked Tails, slightly confused.

    “We knew each other when we were kids,” said Amy. She turned to Sonic and said, “Sonic, you don’t know how happy I am to see you. It’s been ten years since I last saw you.”

    “I missed you to Amy. And to think, I’d see you again on my eighteen birthday,” said Sonic.

    “Oh, you’re eighteen now?! My goodness! Time has passed by so quickly! I’m fifteen now,” said Amy, with a chuckle.

    “Yeah, and we’re going to make him his favorite food for his birthday: chili dogs,” said Tails.

    “Amy, can you stay for my birthday?” Sonic asked her.

    “Sonic, of course I’ll stay. You don’t know how happy I am to see you again!” she said with a smile.

    She and Sonic hugged again, but as she did, she thought, ‘I hope you come back. We need you. I need you,’ sadly.

    It was certainly the best birthday Sonic had in ten years. Amy helped Tails and Knuckles cook chili dogs, and Sonic couldn’t believe what a great cook she was. They sang happy birthday to him after Tails brought the cake, and they all had a few slices with lots of cups of soda.

    After the celebration was over, the four of them had a game night on the system. Amy was a pretty skilled gamer and easily beat Tails and Knuckles, but she let Sonic win since it was his birthday. When they were done with the games, Tails and Knuckles quickly fell asleep on their beanbag chairs, so Sonic and Amy walked outside for a moment to themselves.

    “Ames, will you chase me?” Sonic asked.

    “Chase you?” asked Amy, with a confused look.

    “Like how we did when we were kids. I always loved it when we’d play chase. You were the fastest in our group besides me, and… I liked it. I always felt that if you kept on chasing me, you’d run as fast as me. And… I’d love to have a friend who can run fast like me,” Sonic told her with a smile.

    Amy smiled back and said, “Sure Sonic. I’ll chase you.”

    Sonic grinned and ran ahead of her. Amy quickly ran after him, appearing to catch up to him. The two of them ran through the woods, jumping over rocks, tree branches, and other things during their run. Sonic sped up a bit as Amy got closer to him, but he took care not to lose her during their run.

    This was just how he wanted it. Like when they were kids.

    Amy chased after him, giggling as they played their game. But started to pant a bit and stopped running. Sonic turned back and stopped running, noticing that she was getting tired. He walked over to her, smiled at her, and picked her up bridal style and ran with her in his arms. He wanted to take her to his favorite spot to kick back and relax.

    “Sonic, where are we going?” asked Amy.

    “You’ll see,” Sonic whispered.

    Finally, he made it to his favorite place to relax. It was a meadow, with lots of white flowers scattered around. The night sky was beautiful with the starts twinkling above them, and the moon full and bright.

    “It’s so beautiful…” Amy whispered with a smile.

    “It’s my favorite place to come to, when I want a moment to be alone and relax. Now, I like it with you here,” said Sonic.

    The two of them lay down in the grass to stare at the sky together. They laid there for a little bit, and Amy eventually started to yawn. Sonic smiled and wrapped an arm around her. The two of them fell asleep under the night sky.

    “I love you, Amy Rose,” Sonic whispered.

    He drifted into a deep sleep, forming a smile on his face. Amy woke up when he told her that he loves her. She blushed and smiled. Amy hugged him and fell back asleep.

    “I love you to, Sonic the Hedgehog,” she whispered back.
