Keep It Under Control Ch. 12

Chapter 12: From Bad to Worse

    When the EPF made it back to headquarters, they put the place on lockdown, for two reasons.

    Number one: a telepathic fugitive who was on the loose to kill an agent (why is it no mystery that it’s Amelia that he wants to kill?). With his telepathy, Andrew could damage their regular security system and easily break into the command room.

    Number two: Andrew stole Dot’s spy phone, so until they could get this spy phone back, Gary had to use a specific system to disarm all spy phones, that way the fugitive can’t get into the EPF headquarters by teleporting there.

    It took the agents a couple hours to recover from what happened. After Amelia and her part of the group teleported back to HQ, they found PH, Dot, and Rookie waiting for them. The three of them had teleported back to headquarters, after reuniting in the forest. Once they were inside, Gary immediately set up the feature to shut off the spy phone system and put the place on lockdown.

    After that, those who got shot on their feet got treated for their injuries by the medical team. Berry and Jet Pack Guy recovered quickly since their injuries weren’t that serious, but Gary and Aunt Arctic had to sit around a bit longer for their recoveries were taking longer.

    While the others sat off to recover, PH, Dot, and Rookie sat with Amelia to comfort her. She was desperate to go to her brother’s grave and visit him, but of course the other agents had to keep her from leaving since they were on lockdown.

    A couple hours passed since the agents locked themselves in HQ, and by then, everyone was getting bored since there wasn’t much to do. And not only that, but the agents were getting hungry to.

    Rookie decided that he’d go to the Pizza Parlor and get a pizza for him and the others, but the only one he told his idea to was Berry, and she was okay with coming with him real quick so that he wouldn’t be on his own.

    As they made their way to the Pizza Parlor, they took care to travel with a big group of penguins. However, whenever they spotted a brown penguin, suspicious-looking or not, they hid behind the first thing they could take cover behind and waited until the penguin was gone.

    They safely made it to the Pizza Parlor and as they waited for their pizza to be finished, Berry and Rookie had a conversation.

    “So Rookie, you and Amelia?” Berry asked him with a grin.

    Rookie blushed. “Yeah, so I asked her out some time ago and now were dating…” he said quietly.

    “I know. Just thought I’d ask,” Berry said with a smirk.

    The cashier returned with their boxes of pizza, so Berry paid and the two of them started to head back out.

    However, as they made their way back to headquarters, they could see that a couple of penguins who were ninjas looking worried about something.

    Berry and Rookie could hear some penguins shouting and pointing to the mountains up ahead. Smoke was coming from out of one of the mountains, and the shy was starting to get dark like in Operation Blackout. The air smelled like ash and some penguins started to cough hard and started making their way into the nearest building.

    “What’s going on?” Berry asked one penguin.

    “It’s the volcano… something *cough* happened when I was there for training with the other ninjas,” the penguin said.

    He coughed some more and ran into the coffee shop so that he could get away from the ash.

    Rookie coughed to and said, “I thought you killed the drill.”

    “We did! But Herbert must have had a backup idea or something! Let’s go warn the other agents!” said Berry.

    But before she could take a step, someone grabbed her and Rookie from behind. The two of them started to scream in panic, but they started to cough to because of the ash. As a result, no one could hear their weak cries for help.

    Back inside the EPF HQ, the other agents had noticed that Berry and Rookie ran off. Gary and Aunt Arctic told Dot, PH, and Jet Pack Guy to stay behind and watch over Amelia while they went out to go and look for Berry and Rookie. The four agents sat at the table, trying to occupy themselves with some paper to draw on.

    However, while the agents were busy trying to occupy themselves, they heard a spy phone ring.

    “I thought G turned off all the spy phones…” said Jet Pack Guy.

    “Me to, but whose phone is ringing?” said Dot.

    “It’s mine…” Amelia said in a quiet tone.

    She pressed a button to respond to whoever was calling her. An unpleasant, but familiar voice was on the other end.

    “Well, it looks like you decided to speak to me, you pathetic mistake…” said Uncle Andrew’s voice.

    Amelia wished she could stick her hand through her phone so she could strangle her uncle from the other end, but instead, she said, “What do you want?” in a dark tone.

    “Just so you know, unless you hand yourself over so I can take out the trash for my dead sister, I can have your best friend and boyfriend as a replacement…” said Andrew’s voice.

    Amelia nearly dropped her phone when she could hear the noisess that Rookie and Berry were making. By the sound of it, they must have been tied up and were struggling to get free!

    “You have one hour. Show up on your own to the darkest end of the wilderness, and I’ll let them go. Don’t show up, or tell someone, then I’ll dump them in the ocean,” Andrew warned her.

    There was the sound of a beep from the other end. Andrew hung up on his end of the line.

    ‘I have to save Berry and Rookie…’ thought Amelia.

    Before she could tell PH, Dot, and Jet Pack Guy anything, PH spoke up.

    “Guys… I just got a call from Stomp. He told me that Herbert took over the island…” she said with a worried look.
