I told you my goals, and now you know them.
You said you respected them, because it’s what I want.
But what you say and do now, isn’t what it looked before.
So really, it’s just confusing.
You know my goals, but show me something different.
I thought you respect my goals, but it looks like you don’t.
What you’ve said and done, is list better ideas you like.
But honestly, it’s just confusing.
I thought you knew my goals, but what you show me says “no”.
You try to change my interest, to focus on those who expect more.
And you say they’re better, but I’m just not interested in the pressure.
So all in all, it’s just confusing.
You said you respected my dreams, but you really don’t act like so.
All you’ve done, is show me places that shoot down my plans.
And what you’ve said about where I’ve chosen, is only the negative.
So it me, it’s just confusing.
I just want to know, if you understand my true goals in my life.
I want to know, if you truly respect my plans for my future.
It’s okay if you don’t, but please don’t overwhelm me with your opinions.
Because all of this, it’s just confusing.
I know my plans for college and after I finish that, but whenever she wants to talk about it, all she does is try to convince me to look at bigger, private universities that I have no interest in, tell me the problems with the schools I AM interested in, and tries to tell me to look into other jobs that she says have bigger pay than being a writer (and I want to become a writer).
It's not that I'm mad at her, but I just wish if she doesn't respect my idea of a plan, then she'd stop trying to get me to change my plans while I'm already finishing high school.
But mo matter what, I'm NOT changing my plans for college and a career and replacing it with something my mom recommends just because she says it pays more.
