Dreaming Ch. 6

Chapter 6: The Queen of Dreams

    Far away from Incubus, Katelyn finally stopped running from her kingdom once she made it to the mountains at the farthest end of the woods. She turned around to look at the land around her.  It was empty, almost dead, and there was no sign of Incubus or the castle from even the highest standing point, which was where she was.

    “I can’t go back now. My secret’s out, and now they know I’m a danger to them all,” Katelyn whispered to herself.

    She took a minute to stop, and as she did, she looked up at the sky. The stars were shining brightly and were everywhere above her.

    “I failed you Mara. Not only did I never learn how to control my powers, but I’m not capable of being queen. I’m not like you. I’ll only hurt everyone with my powers…” she said sadly.

    Katelyn sat down on the ground for a moment to think things through. She knew she couldn’t go back home now. The whole kingdom knew that she was dangerous, compared to Mara.

    After a few minutes of sitting down, Katelyn stood up.

    “I don’t need to go back. Now that they know, I can just let it go,” she said with a confident tone.

    She took off her other glove and threw it aside. She started to use her powers to bring color and life to the dead land around her. Plants grew, rocks turned to a bright color, and even animals came up as Katelyn waved her hands. She even made a similar stuffed animal to represent the imaginary friend she used to make with Mario and Sonic as a kid.

    “Time to see what I can do,” she said with a smile.

    Using her powers and magic, she created her own, new castle so that she could live in the mountains on her own. Once the castle was finished being built, Katelyn used her powers to design it from the inside.

    After she was finished making her castle, Katelyn took her crown off and looked at it.

    “I’m never going back. The past is in the past,” she said confidently.

    She checked it out the window and used her powers to change her coronation dress into a new outfit.

    Her dress changed to a light violet shirt with unattached sleeves on her arms and a dark blue, long skirt with purple flames along the hem. Katelyn also gave herself a red belt with a D on the center and purple gloves that looked like flame, tattoo sleeves. She also had an ocean blue cap with her outfit. The only things that didn’t change were her glasses, the bracelet with her sword, and her friendship bracelet from Mario and Sonic.

    “From now on, I’m staying here, where I can be myself without hurting anyone ever again. Besides,” she said, walking out to the balcony to see the view of the mountains.

    “Their complaints don’t bother me anyway, for I’m no longer Queen of Incubus. I am now the Queen of Dreams!”

    With that, she walked back into her castle, slamming the door behind her.
